• Hi, about to do the upgrade but read that very few files are involved for 2.6.3 to 2.6.5. Is this also true of 2.6.2? I have two WP installs and I use DWeaver to FTP, takes forever. Be nice to only upload a few files. Good or bad idea?

  • .. and its not a bad idea so long as you get the 6 files, right. One is duplicated — wp-includes/version.php

screw either of 2 of ’em up, and your blog might be toast.

ok, you’re scaring me but what’s a little adrenaline? Guess that’s what backups are for. thanks -R

    ahh ok, so it’s
    ../wp-includes/version.php
    and I’ll read some more but I assume by duplicated you mean there’s a version.php 2.6.3 and a version.php 2.6.5

So at the end of the day I will have only changed 6 files.

Or is it incremental. I upgrade to 2.6.3, run wp-config, then upgrade to 2.6.5 and again run wp-config?

Sorry, a lot of the stuff I’m reading is outside my experience.

Here’s the list for anyone looking, please correct if inaccurate:

    2.6.3
    /wp-includes/class-snoopy.php
    /wp-includes/version.php

    2.6.5
    /wp-includes/post.php
    /wp-includes/version.php
    /wp-includes/feed.php
    /xmlrpc.php
    /wp-admin/users.php

You don’t need to “run” anything after updating the files

It if were me, I would do the first two files and make sure my blog is now 2.6.3 I would then do the next 5.

I upgraded by just copying the necessary files but I did each one separately.

Just have your backups and you will be fine 🙂
