I just did a fresh install of WP 2.6.5. I have modified anything. It is using the default theme.
The site is located at http://blog.gocanyoneering.com.
With previous versions http://blog.gocanyoneeing.com/feed/ would bring up a page where people could subscribe to receive an RSS feed of my blog. Now it produces a 404 error.
I noticed than version 2.6.3 created a .htaccess file when it was installed. However version 2.6.5 did not create a .htaccess file.
Any help figuring this out would be appreciated.
I put the .htaccess file that 2.6.3 created into the folder of my 2.6.5 site as an experiment.
Before I placed the .htaccess file. Going to
http://blog.gocanyoneeing.com/feed/ would produce a 404 error. After I dropped the 2.6.3 .htaccess into the folder going to
http://blog.gocanyoneeing.com/feed/ would take me to the front page of the blog. Weird..
I deleted the .htaccess file again. but thought I would mention the result of my experiment here. Something is definitely different in 2.6.5
The link http://blog.gocanyoneering.com/?feed=rss2 does work.
Could somebody else with version 2.6.5 try /feed/ on their site and tell me if it works for you? Maybe is has been removed from this version.
most people have already updated to 2.7b3 so 2.3.5 isnt that big a deal. this is sounding more like a wp error though.
...upgrade your permalinks. have you done that?
http://blog.gocanyoneeing.com/feed/
is a pretty permalink.
@whooami
Thanks! That worked. I forgot I did that on my last attempt to install WP. I am having another problem discussed in another thread. I had re-installed WP with version 2.6.5. I didn't want to change anything after I re-installed so I could see if problem happened right out of the box. Anyway, problem solved. Thanks. If you get a chance look at my other thread. I'm having trouble using images and links in the text widget.
