Upon upgrading to WordPress 2.6.5, I started getting the following error whenever a map was called with this plugin:
Request resulted in error. Check XML file is retrievable.
The XML file is retrievable and is in the correct location.

Reply for completeness.
After liaising with Erik, an update thydzikGoogleMap v1.3.1 has been released which address the problem.
