   Hi

   I'm pretty new to wordpress, and I'm looking to redesign one of my sites using it.

   I have a simple question that im not sure how to do!

   Basically I would like the site's home page to be a custom page, eg: no recent posts and such, like the about me page (just text).

   And I would like a news page, but have the latest posts in there.

   Is this possible?

   Just study your won admin panel:
   Settings > Reading.
   See the options there for "static front page" and "posts page".
   Note. You need two Pages already created in the Write > Page subpanel, to be able to set the Reading options.

   Also, for "custom page", better to say Page see the Templates section of this link.

   I have been looking around, but as you know with anything new it takes a short while to become accustomed to it.
