Hi, I would like for my users to search by a particular category. I want to place a category drop down right under the search box. So people type in what they want to search and then select the appropriate category and click search... how can I do that?

i guess its not going to be possible. you may check this http://codex.wordpress.org/Creating_a_Search_Page stats how to customize your search page to display category.

Posted 1 year ago #I knew there was a plugin for this. Had to search around for a while til I found it, and I haven't tried it, but I believe this plugin is meant to do what you asked for,
