  • Hi, Eggo.

You’ve been hacked! Same thing just happened to me. If you look at the address when you log in, you will see a redirect page. Here’s what I did as a short-term solution. Delete all of the redirect info until you have wp-admin/post.php then hit enter. This should give you access to your dashboard. Now all we have to do is to find out from Word Press how to restore our login to get rid of the redirect. Good luck!

Here’s what shows in the address bar after you hit the login button: http://www.yourdomain.com/blog/wp-login.php?redirect_to=http%3A%2F%2Fyourdomain.com%2Fblog%2Fwp-admin%2F

It looks just like the login page. To get on the dashboard, delete back to the wp- and type in admin/post.php and you should be on. I did try replacing my wp-login.php file with a fresh copy, and that didn’t help. I am a psychologist, not a Word Press guru, so hopefully one of our forum friends will help us out!

In the meantime, nobody else can log on to comment.

Alright, that bypass got me into the page. Now where to find that login redirection…

I have no clue, but if you find it, please let me know!

    lfreberg and EGGO,

I hope someone finds an answer to this problem because it’s happened to me too and in my case, the clearing out the redirect code does not get me to the dashboard. I’m completely locked out.

I’ve verified that my database shows the first directory. I’ve replaced my wp-login.php file. I’ve verified that my .htaccess file seems on the up and up. I’ve changed my password. Nothing gets me in.

Same issue is happening to me. I’m able to bypass the login screen and get to the dashboard, but the front page and login screen itself never acknowledge that I’m logged in.

bobsouer, try going to <your blog>/wp-admin/index.php

Just removing the redirect from the login page won’t get you anywhere but the login page. You have to give it an alternate page. edit.php worked for me, too.

I’ve completely replaced all the files from the wordpress directory, and that didn’t resolve the situation for me, so I’m reasonably certain it’s a database issue, not an altered file. It’s possible I missed something, but not likely.

Hopefully, enough people will post on this issue that we’ll get the attention of the WP gurus, who probably know where we can look to get rid of the redirect. I can post on my blog, but nobody can login to post comments. That is an inconvenience to me, but probably disastrous for bigger blogs.

I do allow people to register themselves on my site, and I noticed a flurry of new signups from obvious spammers last weekend. I’d hate to think I’d have to close down registrations, but I just don’t have time to deal with these issues.

Did this happen after everyone here upgraded their version?

    To all —

I was having exactly the same symptoms, except they would only occur on my wireless broadband modem, as opposed to the WIFI I have access to. Became even more confusing than that until I discovered it was isolated to Firefox (I’m on a Mac). Safari did not have the same issue. I did a clean install of Firefox (including wiping the preference files) and that was that.

Maybe this will be of help to some of you.

Dammit Jim, I’m a writer, not a programmer.

I know I am a little late on this but thought it was relevant. I had this issue and it drove me nuts…I didnt have to reinstall Firefox…here’s what I did.

    Tools–> options –> Privacy Tab
Click on delete individual cookie (or all if you prefer)…find your site and delete it.

Then clear ALL your cache and viola…I am back into my site.
