there is a “hide Dashboard” plugin that I use on my blog that addresses this issue. It sends subscribers to their profile page if they try accessing the admin dashboard page: http://www.kpdesign.net/wp-plugins/wp-hide-dashboard/
yea but with that plugin dont you have to also use another plugin, so thats 2 plugins to do the same thing that woudl be so simple for wordpress to add.

I’m the author of the plugin that cmolway linked to.
No, you do not have to use any other plugin in order for mine to work properly. Simply upload it to your plugins directory and activate it on the Plugins page – no configuration necessary. If the user is assigned to the Subscriber role, they will not see the dashboard link nor will they be able to access any other part of the admin section outside their profile page.
I think you were thinking of the IWG Hide Dashboard plugin, which requires the Role Manager plugin being installed/activated in order to work.
Let me know if you have any other questions about how my plugin works.
If the plugin is sufficiently well designed, then it would hide itself from users of certain levels. It’s not really for the core to decide what plugin pages should be visible.
What kind of user level they have?
Logged in as Contributor, they don’t see anything about plugins.
Hey cool! Thanks, kpdesign!
