• I’m currently trying to integrate Flickr with my blog. The problem is that Flickr currently doesn’t support categories, so every post lands in the default category, which isn’t what I want.

    I see two options here:
    1) Add a “per user” default category. Since Flickr has it’s own login for my blog that would easily solve the problem.
    2) Hook into the XMLRPC call that creates a new post and set the category there. (I haven’t found out how to do that; The result would be the same, thoug a bit more difficult: Check the user name, apply a new category.)

    Can both be implemented?

    Bets regards,
    Markus

  • Just to note, I have suggested to folks at Flickr that they pass the tags on an image to blogs posts. Don’t know if it ever happen, but I’ve at least suggested it 🙂

Hi there. I am giving that feature a +1. I’m having the same issue with flickr. I think a default category feature would serve the purpose best. Could be edited in the User Preferences, where I also searched for it a lot. Is this one already in the bug tracker?

For now Role Scoper can handle that, given that you’ve set up a special user for your Flickr “blog this” service.
