I have an installation issue. The download file unzips a bunch of files, but there are not wp-content, wp-admin, or wp-includes folders. When I run the http://www.sitename.com/blog/wp-admin/install.php, I get a 404 error. Can anyone give a hint as to the solution of this problem?

Yes, I have checked and rechecked the SQL setup on the CPanel of the site, and the wp-config.php file matches. I have a WordPress 2.3.3 version blog on anther site and it set up with no problems. But the new version is not installing. I appreciate any input.

    Thanks.

How you unzip it and which files it contains?

I have tried about five different times, and have used WS_FTP and SmartFTP for unzipping it. Neither unzip created the wp-admin, wp-content, or wp-includes folder. After it unzips to a Wordpress directory on my computer, I have 494 files in the folder. I change the wp-config-sample.php file to wp-config.php and apply the appropriate SQL database information in the file. Then, I upload all 494 files, but still no subfolders are available. Thus, it will not install.

Thanks again for any input or assistance.

The problem is resolved. The Windows download will not create the necessary subfolders when unpacking the file. However, I tried the .tar.gz download and it performed perfectly.

Maybe this information will help someone else.
