If you are going to interact with other people on your website and to find friends you have to “switch on” comments.Don’t worry about the spam comments and you can activate the akismet plugin which is definetely a good spam filter.
or if you want to just show your work and not need any ideas or suggestions or feedback then you can “switch off” comments.

Hello, all:
I have set up some WordPress blogs but I have not allowed comments yet. One reason is, I read that they invite spam. Another reason is, I just don’t see a reason to allow them.
Are they a must, and if so, why? Does anyone have an argument against them?
