How to display excerpts or teasers and not wntire posts?

    So I downloaded yesterday the latest version of WP and also the theme metamorph-tropicforest.

    My website is one with articles rather than blog entries so I would like to have titles and teasers displayed and not whole articles.

    Currently when I click a category all posts are displayed (entire posts). They are long and contain many photos. Sometimes I have to scroll 15 screens to get to the end of the page.

    I see that there is a field, while posting, called excerpt, where I can input a short description of the article. It doesn’t work

    In ‘settings–>display’ there is also an option where I can select the whole text or the summary. Doesn’t work either.

    What can I do? HELP 🙁
