• Every time a new user registers on my blog, I get an email telling me that. I’d rather not get that email, but for the life of me, I can’t figure out a way to turn it off. What am I missing?

  • Either modify the core code (not recommended) or filter-out those emails in your email client. Course you could just change the email address in Options->General to a throw away email address.

Suppose there might be a plugin but I couldn’t find one.

Thanks for the response MichaelH! That’s pretty surprising that there’s no way to turn this off – I’d definitely like to see the notification have an option to be turned off in a future version of WP. Akismet does a great job of protecting me from spam comments, but getting an email every time one of these spammers registers an account is irritating. I can’t change the email address to a false one in options because I need to be notified when there’s a comment held for moderation.

Most email clients would allow you to filter email when the subject contains specific words…

But that’s not fixing the problem is it? I’m not seeking a work-around that I’d have to implement server-side or on all of the six or so email clients I regularly use to check email on different computers – this is something that is best fixed within WordPress itself.
