“Add new…” drop-down default — allow customisation?

Just wondering if it would be possible to change the way the new “Add New Post” drop-down displays in 2.7.

At present it reads, “Add New Post” by default. I wonder if it would be possible to introduce a way of allowing it to display, “Add New Page” by default instead? Either via a cookie or as a Setting.

The reason I ask this is that I’ve built a few sites with no blog function at all, and so “Posts” are irrelevant for their users. Always having to click and select the second item on the drop-down might introduce a bit of confusion.

(My preference would also be that the “Pages” panel sit directly beneath the “Posts” panel, but I’m probably in a minority here. Perhaps the ability to re-order the panels?)
