    Hi,

Running wordpress version 2.5.1. In the past 24 hours my website has been hacked and someone has inserted advertising at the header and sidebar. I do not know where to begin to check how and where the malicious code is.

Please take a look (www.mymindwanders.com) – the problem is obvious.

  • I’d suggest talking to Godaddy–that looks like your domain might be one they term “Free with Hosting” and they (Godaddy) will place ads on your site.

Hmm, nope I don’t have my hosting at Godaddy. I have the name registered at SiteGround and I host on a VPS at 1&1.com.

Nevermind… it was a sponsor who had me insert code into my sidebar. The PHP code inserted a number of <div>’s which laid on top of the page. I removed that code and no more problem.

Thanks for your help, though, MichaelH!

I swear I saw a ‘Parked at Godaddy’ header earlier–oh well thanks for marking resolved.
