I have banned IP 24 hours on maps.google.com becasuse of using umapper (9 posts)

    me: I used umapper.com (as a website and as a plugin for WordPress too to
    display a map) and now I'm banned IP to view satellite maps from
    maps.google.com How long I'll have the IP banned? I'm sure that is
    banned because in all browsers (FF, IE7. Opera, Safari, Chrome) only
    the satellite view is not working. Please help!

    Maps Guide Mike (google admin): umapper.com isn't doing things the right way. You'll be unbanned in 24 hours automatically, I suggest avoiding umapper until they fix their code to use the official APIs.

    Thanks for bringing this up. Keep in mind that this issue happens only with Google Satellite maps, all other maps are NOT affected. We are currently working on a fix.

    In the mean time, you can still use UMapper with Microsoft Virtual Earth, Yahoo, OpenStreetMap and Google (with the exception of satellite images).

    You'll anounce here when the fix with google is done (satellite)? ...because I love uMapper but I don't want to be banned again on maps.google.com

    There has been no news regarding this issue. Based upon your comment a month ago, is it safe to assume that this issue has not been resolved yet?

    In spite of the uncertainty regarding the banning issue, I installed this plugin on a WP 2.7 site. I was prompted to get a umapper API which I did and placed it where required. Nothing else is happening. I see no way to use this plugin now that it is added. This looks very useful, but if there is no means to use it, whats the point? Will there be any support for this plugin to help with these matters?

    I must apologize, I missed the little "U" button in the add media row. Seems to be working with my WP 2.7 installation so far.

    Well, am experiencing some issues, for one, a custom menu I am using hides behind the map generated my umapper. It has been suggested that the parameters for umapper include the following:

    <param name="WMode" value="transparent">

    <embed wmode="transparent".......</embed>

    where "transparent" might need to be "opaque" instead. I have tried both with no success so far on one example map on my site. The larger question is if I do find a solution that works for one map, how do I make the change site wide?

    How do I make the map take a back seat to the menu all over my site?

    Sminc - Find the file Plugins > content > tpl > viewer.tpl.php

    This worked for me! Copy this code and replace yours, OR copy and see where I have added the lines wmode in twice.
