   I'm using the Live+Press plugin and WordPress 2.6.2

   The plugin says it can crosspost User Pics, but the only options I have for selecting a User Pic to use on the LiveJournal post are "default" or "no pics". "Default" of course displays my default LJ icon.

   How do I actually select/crosspost a user pic?

   You would only be able to select user pics that you have defined on livejournal.com. Pictures that you insert into the post, of course, should also show up on your LJ post when cross posting.
