Carrington Theme: Powerful for large sites, poor choice for small blogs (5 posts)

I really like the Carrington theme, but i wanted to warn people it is made for large projects. you will have to invest a large amount of time understanding the complexity of the carrington theme. If you just need a small, or simple blog and want to make minor customizations, then stay away from this theme. it will be very hard to make these tweaks. But if you are planning on developing a site with many pages, that need powerful customizations, then this theme could be a great help, and all that time invested in learning the theme will be paid back with amazingly flexible, powerful website. thanks to the authors for releasing this.

    Hello,

    I don't agree.
Carrington is a little bit complex to get in, but once it's done, it's a wonderfull theme, even for a samll site.

The point is not the site size but the site structure. If you don't care about personnalized categories pages for example, Carrington is overkill, in the opposite case, it's a real gem and so on...

I'm brand new to WP in general.... Carrington seems to have what I need for the project I have in mind, but as I said.... I'm just getting my feet wet with it...

Right now, I can't seem to get TinyMCE to working properly with it.... Where I have it working perfectly on the "night light" theme.... Does anyone have it working?....

Since I'm new to this world, is there any plugins with Known Conflicts.... I've been trying out various features, and may well just need to turn one off....

Thanks for the help.... getting that running will certainly make posting/formatting easier

running WP 2.7..... all plugins are 2.7 compatable

    thanks

I actually completely agree with you, dwenaus. Carrington is a superbly elegant theme, but the coding is absolutely ridiculous.

I'm using it for a personal website/blog but I'm not a PHP expert, unfortunately, which makes trying to change even simple things in the theme impossible. I wanted to switch around a bit in the order of the way posts are outputted, but I gave up after 30 minutes of trying to figure out which function was doing what since you can't just use the regular wordpress functions.
