hi. it’s right here:

thanks!
so it seems like the problem isnt WP Grins. The problem, even with the regular installation of WP, is that text smilies arent being converted into graphical smilies. Is this a WP 1.2.2 problem?
BTW, I’ve already enabled the conversion under ‘Options’.
melissa, i have 1.2.2 and hoped to install WP Grins as well. though i was planning on doing this “extended live preview hack” that incorporates WP Grins. i mention this because the whole thing is wysiwyg, including the smilies. it would be sad if this hack and/or grins don’t work with 1.2.2 🙁 but guess we’ll find out soon enough ^_^;;
As I’ve said, the problem isnt WP Grins.
The problem is that WP isnt converting text smilies into graphical smilies. This is with or without WP Grins, even when the option is checked inside the admin settings.

ok so far i have some success. i have the text smilies showing up under my comment form and if you type 🙂 it’ll show the smile.gif (i haven’t uploaded the rest yet) . so comments is good. i can break down the steps i did if need be
however, still can’t get any sort of live preview going in admin, and maybe that’s because i didn’t put the javascript in the right file (i have it in wp-admin/admin-header.php), or maybe it’s in the wrong spot in that file, or it could be something else entirely 🙁 but not really sure…
macmanx, that cannot be the problem. i’ve uploaded them via binary format. if i type the direct link to the gif file in my web browser, the graphical gif properly displays. it just doesnt display in wordpress.
chanzero, i think you are talking about a completely different problem.
