    Hi,

    I've gone and reskinned the backend of wordpress to use it accross a couple of blogs, and was trying to add it to one of those blogs. I stupidly over-wrote the whole wp-admin folder for that site with my new wp-admin folder and now i cannot get any backend pages to work... all i get is a blank screen...

    front end of the site is still fine and working.

    any suggestions??

    (i stupidly dont have a backup)

    thanks

    Hi,

    Have tried that... no luck, same result.

    have a look: http://www.mwarchitects.com.au/wp-admin/

    could it have anything to do with any plugins installed?? i have a redirection and the all-in-1-seo pack installed...

    Same boat as modelcitizen.

    I tried renaming plugin folder and also tried deleting plugins suspected of being trouble. Tried restoring all files back to previous backup... Nothing.

    http://j-geissler.com/wordpress/wp-login.php
    says 'not found'-- on the server the file is there. so...??

    FRUSTRATING!

    Help!

    @modelcitizen
    you could temporarily rename the plugins folder and see if that helps

    @patterntheory
    try renaming the .htaccess temporarily
    rename your nggallery folder temporarily - some folks have had this problem with that plugin - also the wp-db-backup plugin

    I did the mentioned above-- also did as mentioned in codex:

    Use phpMyAdmin

    * In the table wp_options, under the option_name column (field) find the active_plugins row
    * Change the option_value field to: a:0:{}

    to disable plugins.

    I now get this message:

    Warning: require(./wp-blog-header.php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/jgeiss/public_html/index.php on line 17

    Warning: require(./wp-blog-header.php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/jgeiss/public_html/index.php on line 17

    Fatal error: require() [function.require]: Failed opening required './wp-blog-header.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/jgeiss/public_html/index.php on line 17

    which sounds like an upload problem? Tried reuploading no luck.

    Ideas?

    Heres a thought:
    within the SQL database i see this:
    Edit Delete 48 0 template defusion yes
    Edit Delete 49 0 stylesheet defusion yes

    Maybe i'm having a template conflict with the upgrade? If so, how do i get the template to change back to standard without access to admin panel? Change variable in the database here? To what exactly? default?

    I think there might be an issue with the htaccess file too...
    note that I have my wordpress in root/wordpress

    i'm tempted to restore the database to last backup at this point.
    If a fresh/clean upgrade didnt work, I'm not sure I understand.

    I went in and deleted tables in wp_options from plugins I no longer had in my plug ins folder.

    I then had to change file permissions for cron/admin etc

    Now I can access control panel.

    I may start from the beginning soon as I'm not comfortable I did everything properly... Who knows if I did any damage in the database tables

    Know idea-- looks like the issue was a conflict with a plug in and/or database updating during the attempted upgrade.

    I would say I'm staying away from auto upgrade and potentially NGG Gallery plugin (though I have no info so far as to whether this was the culprit)

    Sorry folks.

    This was insane.

    yep - i've tried renaming the plugins folder no-luck.

    also tried re-naming the .htaccess file, or stripping it out. no luck!

    should i try a completely new install? I could copy database through PHPmyAdmin and copy it to a different server and try a fresh install??

    lotsa work though!
