• Is there an easy fix to purge the WordPress feed cache? – intermittently, even tho I have added new posts, the feed displayed in my sidebar shows the latest posts as being from like a day earlier. I use a feedburner plugin but the feed is up to date there. I am also aggregating the feed using SimplePie Plugin – hmmm maybe THATS the culprit? SimplePie mavens are u out there?

…Eventually, the sidebar feed does a cough and a twitch and goes back to normal but it would be nice to nuke that cache for immediate gratification and the benefit of my readers. – thx

WordPress does not have any sort of “feed cache” for its own feed, so there’s no real way to “purge” it.

WordPress does cache feeds read by the RSS sidebar widgets, for a period of one hour. That is built in and not adjustable without editing the code.

If you’re using SimplePie WP to display your feed in the sidebar, you can use SimplePie’s options page to purge the feed: In the WP admin, Settings > SimplePie for WP > General Settings > How long should we cache for?: change the value to 1 (second), update options, then set it back to its previous value and update options again.

    HTH…
