I am trying to install WordPress 2.1.2. I successfully get to Step 1 where I enter the blog name and email address. When it reaches step two, it just tells me that it's trying to create tables. I am not sure why it doesn't progress and I can't see any solutions. Thanks for any ideas.
Do you already have WP running on your site? If so what version number? Are you trying to install or upgrade?
This is the second installation of WordPress that shall exist on the site. The first version is 2.1, which has not been upgraded.
A new MySQL database has been made for this new installation, and I am trying to install from scratch.
This is awfully strange. I reverted back to 2.1 and installed it successfully. Does 2.1.2 have a bug in it for some reason? I'm confused!
Your post isn't very clear. Are you attempting to install 2.1.2 over 2.1.1 or are you trying to set up a separate (second) blog using 2.1.2?
Previously, I installed WP 2.1 successfully. I needed another blog, so I wanted to install a new WP blog in another directory. I tried using 2.1.2 and it wouldn't install. So, I deleted the 2.1.2 directory and tried with 2.1, which was again successful. So now I have 2 blogs both of which are 2.1. I could not install 2.1.2 from scratch and do not know why that is the case. It makes no sense to me.
Certainly seems odd. Are they both on the same database server? Is it local to the actual blog server (as in same server) or is the DB hosted on a different server?
They are both on the same database server, yes. I tried using two different MySQL and two same MySQL databases and neither worked with the 2.1.2 install. This is all on a dedicated server.
I am having the same problem.
