   I'm trying to install the google sitemap generator but everytime I try to CHMOD the sitemap.xml and sitemap.xml.gz files to "666" I get the following message:

   There was a problem writing your sitemap file. Make sure the file exists and is writable

   I have upload both files within the WordPress directory (where the wp-config.php is) and I have also tried setting the files to "777" again the same message appears, please can anyone help?

   Maybe you should rename them, CHMOD them, and then give them their correct names again. I am not the expert, mind you..
