• I know it sounds simple, but what I want is to use WP as a dedicated review set up.

    So like many review sites:

Pic of whatever it is on the left and on right hand side break down of title, release date, director/author/artist and link.

Below all that review text (I write crap load so multiple page is probably apt) and then a final rating (i HATE HATE HATE adding a score, but realise most people want this, so I will conform to the sheepish norm). and then below that anonymous or regged users can write their comments with their rating.

Are there any examples of sites that do something like this in WP, and are there any plugins/rating hacks that I can add?

How easy would this be to implement? I’m quite happy with using e107 as my blog site, but I want to split of the reviews as its own site, so WP came to mind as I tried to use it a year or so ago I think.

Would welcome all feedback on this. I think WP’s felxability with CSS would be advantageous for a good looking review site.

    Thanks in advance

Lots of reviews, and WP code is used too.

rather garish, but yes, that’s sort of what I’m aiming for, how difficult would it be to code something like that or to get it to the level – i’d rather it looked a little more…elegant shall we say?

But at least it breeds confidence in that WP is capable of such a task

well i emailed him and still awaiting a reply, meanwhile in my drowsy state I’ve tried to come up with an idea of what I’d like, was wondering if someone could confirm I could so something liek this.

now please ignore the fact that colours will make you puke, it’s only because i don’t care and i’m tired, those would never be my number 1 choices.

    the idea is this:

Basically when the mouse goes over the bottom three blocks there’s a roll over transparency effect to note that it’s highlight, or perhaps they’re all opaque and become clearer when highlighted with the mouse – i dunno.

the menu at the top should all have a rollover effect which is neat and tidy.

well, could someone do the idea of the theme? when the user clicks on the review, it basically loads it up in the same page, minus all of it bar the menu, with reviews divided into pages I guess. With the front image to the left always, or to the right dependent on the colour or something.

Do you see what I’m getting at? I should sleep and then try to explain.

let me know if the idea is at least possible, and perhaps how I could go about executing and implementing it?

I use ‘meta’ tags to rate movies, so that I get stars listed next to them. I’m going to write up a ‘meta’ tag how too soon, and post it.

You can see an example here:

looks good, look forward to seeing it 😉

I too am interested in this. I use WordPress on my existing site (http://www.digitaldeviation.com) already, so I’m looking for a way to use it as a review function too.

I just hate to hack it up too much. Upgrades tend to be a pain when you do that. Guess I need to do some more reasearch on this.

I have customized WP to make it look like a review page. You can take a look HERE . Not much hack is needed, just to tweak a little with the index and sidebar and also to make good use of the customfield plugin.
