   okay i have this layout called "Smokey"
   http://web2feel.com/2008/06/21/smokey/
   and on this smokey layout they got this rad feature that will display your user name "Welcome (user name)"

   " * Welcome Sys0p.
   * Go to dashboard
   * Make new post
   * View profile
   * Logout
   "

   Now, my question is how can I have this on this other layout that iam using now, I made a text box in the widget section and have been coding it with links to peoples own profile, got a dashboard link, a paypal, hit counter, and logout, but I'd like it for that welcome sign to be in the widget text box

   Assuming you are want a widget to display "Welcome John Doe", where John Doe is the user's name, you'd probably need to use something like Otto's php code widget. Then copy and paste the code that's in your existing template (e.g. sidebar.php) that now displays that Welcome stuff.

   i don't understand, i have to do what with the "Sidebar.php"

   You don't need to do anything to sidebar.php if you are using a widget.
