Edit your theme and add a call to the_author() to display the author’s name.

is this something a layman can do? i have no idea which theme file or for that matter what code would accomplish this…. is wordpress more for a programmer? is there an easier blogging tool… i can’t seem to accomplish what i want because i’m not a programmer and am getting weary of all the road blocks… end of rant. thanks for your time.

Yes, it is something a layman can do. I would hesitate to call this sort of thing “programming”. More like “web design”. Editing minor bits of PHP code is much easier than real programming.

But, if you’re not wanting to edit and understand scripting languages, then yes, running WordPress on your own site is probably not for you.

Customizing any website means editing text code. Period. There is no other way to do it, no matter what system you use. The web is built on text, in the form of HTML and simple scripting languages. To build a custom site, either you do it, or you have somebody do it for you (and that probably involves paying them at some point). These are the facts of life.

I would suggest using a system like WordPress.com instead, which doesn’t have this sort of customization. Alternately, Blogger is not difficult to use, although editing the themes there is (IMO) harder than doing it with WordPress.
