Version 2.6 had "Front Page Displays" option where I could set a static page to be displayed as front page. Was this feature stripped of version 2.6.2? I installed latest version on a new domain and this is not available there at all. Or I can't find it? Why take a step back with new versions? Is there a way to download WP 2.6 so i can reinstall if 2.6.2 doesn't offer this feature?
Hi
In Dashboard > Settings > Reading
There is an option for Front Page Display. I think that's what you were looking for.

Hello,
yet, this option is there on one of my blogs that still uses version 2.6, but I've installed version 2.6.2 on a new domain name and that option is not there at all.
Reading Settings page (v 2.6.2) has a grand total of 4 fields:
Blog pages show at most:
Syndication feeds show the most recent:
For each article in a feed, show:
Encoding for pages and feeds:
That's why I was wondering if there is a way to downgrade, aka download v 2.6 instead and reinstall.
The setting is still there in 2.6.2. It has not moved at all.
Note that your site must actually HAVE some Pages for the setting to show up. If you don't have any Pages created, then you can't very well set a Front Page to one, can you?

The thing is, that I do have a page created. I'm not making this up. I can give anyone interested the log in info to verify that the page was created prior to this thread.
I had created the page first, then I went to set it as front page and viola - that option does not exist there. My other blog does have it, but that one has not been upgraded form 2.6 yet.
Once again, there is a page. The page is unpublished because I don't want it listed in the menu. I just do not have an option to set is as front page in 2.6.2
Publish the page and just exclude it from menu by adding argument of exclude=ID#ofthatpage in wp_list_pages so that it won't be listed in the menu
The page is unpublished
Then it doesn't exist for selecting as a frontpage.
