    Aloha,
We are a small herbal supplement business trying to go online in the most professional way. We are great at customer service and not so good at making websites. Our web building knowledge is elementary at best. Hiring someone would be great, but we're looking to 'hire' the right theme instead!! :)

These are somethings we researched and would like to be part of the site. Our question is if all of the below are possible/recommended with WU.
Please read the list and make recommendations as to which theme you think will suit us best.

    - A Static homepage. I have read someplace these are crawled faster than dynamic pages. Sorry to say, I don't know how to make one but will learn.
-We need a professional theme that looks like a website (something good for 5-10 products). I can re do parts of it on photoshop if need be. It's critical to us that the store front looks professional and not home made.
-a shopping cart that integrates to the theme easily. also, a shopping cart with lots of options. (places to put last minute deals, etc)
-plugged into fedEX real time quotes and the USPS tracking program.
    - I'd like my friend to translate it into Japan, since we are in Hawaii, and Japan is a good market for businesses here. Will there be a problem in making a whole separate site in Japanese within the site?
    - a community friendly site that can be twittered/myspaced/ digg it etc. Any theme will allow this right?
If we're missing something, please let us know, we'd like to do this right.
Thank you very much for reading our query. We feel ancient around the latest web sites and want to catch up. Slowly. :)

    Cheers and Aloha,
    Mr and Mrs. Demiurgic

That's not really a theme issue - although part of it depends heavily on your theme's design and coding. It is mainly a site development issue with a lot of custom stuff: some can be done with WP, others... I am not sure.

Themes are not a solution for site development; any WP theme is just the "clothing" on the working engine. And you want to do a lot of things that are NOT really built-in or WP-related.

You will need quite a few plugins, too.

In that case I doubt you choose the right path. You see, my car fixing knowledge is elementary, so I always rely on professional mechanics...

you'd say Dream weaver is the better way to go then Moshu?

Otherwise, can there be a way to study up on getting the right plugins and installing them?
Basically it sounds lke WP is not the right choice for us based on what you said. That is unfortunate if so because we certainly cannot afford a website designer right now a for Dream weaver based site.
    thanks for your help,
    D

It is not DW versus WP. They are not comparable: one is a desktop designing tool, the other is an online publishing system. Apples and oranges...

It is a WP-pro vs. you.

Google 'e-commerce website templates' and you'll get a lot of choices. Go to your nearest retail bookstore and peruse the web design section. I know there are software platforms/programs specifically for ecommerce, but none come to mind at the moment.
