Trouble Exporting XML content from wordpress.com to self-hosted .org

    Hi,
    I’m trying to transfer my blog to a wordpress.org site hosted by bluehost (this part’s all set up fine). I saved the blog content as XML file in WordPress.com exporter tool, but then when I try to import via wordpress.org dashboard, I get error message “Failed to import author . Their posts will be attributed to the current user.” Then nothing actually gets transferred and screen repeats error messages such as “Failed to import post tag
    Failed to import. Media “photo (1)” already exists.”

    Can anyone help? Is there an alternate way to export wordpress.com data besides that exporter tool (the XML file it saves looks weird, it doesn’t have any < or > symbols, so I’m not sure it’s getting everything)?

    The blog I need help with is brooklindsay.com.

    It appears that the blog/site is still with WordPress.com? Have you tried asking on their forums?

    If there are missing angle brackets you can try downloading the file again.
