[Plugin: diggZ-Et] Doesn't work with images in the same post (7 posts)

    Love this plugin but it doesn't seem to work very well with my blog... I hope someone will be able to help!

    Everything works correctly in a new post that contains ONLY TEXT and no images. The links show correctly for the Diggz-ET icon and the title and description are sent to Digg so that the user doesn't have to type all that in...

    If I add an image to the same post, the link for the Diggz-ET icon doesn't show the &title and the &bodytext required for the info to be sent to Digg. Also, in this situation (post with image) the icon used by Diggz-ET will always go back to the default one regardless of the one I chose in the settings (compact or icon). It's like it's completely ignoring all the settings !

    I have tried many things (reinstalled my whole setup including database, posts, plugins, etc.) but still the same problem.

    Here are my specs:
    http://www.thetechlink.net
    Wordpress 2.6
    Plugins:
    Akismet 2.1.8
    All in One SEO Pack 1.4.6.14
    Blog Icons 0.2
    diggZ-Et 1.1.9
    Simple Tags 1.5.7
    Sociable 2.9.1

    This may very well be a bug in diggZ-Et. There have been other issues reported that only effect the homepage but I'm starting to notice those blogs also use images in their posts, so it's most likely connected. I haven't been able to duplicate the behavior of either of these bugs, on any blogs I test it on.

    Could you try using version 1.1.0 of diggZ-Et. If it works and it's not too much trouble could you try every version after until the problem shows up again. I'd very much appreciate it.

    Old Versions Available here:

    I haven't been able to connect the issue to any other plugins but I'll do some tests with the list of plugins that you left.

    Thanks for your response...

    On my test blog, I have created a post with text only and another with an image in it for testing the plugin. It is available here: http://quebecgt.com/test/ and still has version 1.1.4 of the diggz-et plugin installed. No other plugins are or have been installed on this wordpress test blog (it's a brand new clean install)

    From the testing I did, it seems that the biggest part of the problem appears in version 1.1.4 of the diggz-et plugin.

    With all versions, the testing is done with the settings bellow:
    * Show/Hide Options - Hide everywhere and only show in posts
    * Button Position - Right or Top Right if available
    * Background Color - #FFFFFF
    * Skin Type - Compact
    * Browser Window - Default window
    * Summary - Automatic or 250 chars if available
    * Media - News
    * Topic - Tech News

    All versions:
    Although the topic is selected (in blue) once on the digg web site, it says: "The topic you chose is not valid." once you submit the link.

    Also, from version to version, before changing, I deactivate the plugin and then delete it from wordpress and then from my server and upload the next version but the settings from the previous versions are kept it seems and transfered to the new version...

    Testing was done with Firefox.

    Version 1.1.0:
    Displays the right type of button skin in the post with text only and sends the appropriate title and description to digg.

    Displays the right type of button skin in the post with image and sends the appropriate title but not the right description to digg. Here is the description I got (only 109 characters): %5Bcaption id%3D%22attachment_7%22 align%3D%22alignleft%22 width%3D%22105%22 caption%3D%22The Tech Link%22%5D

    Version 1.1.1, 1.1.2 and 1.1.3:
    Exactly the same as previous version

    Version 1.1.4:
    Displays the wrong type of button skin (Default instead of compact) in the post with image and doesn't send any title or description to digg.

    Thanks for the elaborate testing and report. 1.1.4 changed a lot of things and actually fixed the description encoding problem that you noted in 1.1.0. I think I now know what is causing the problems you're experiencing and I'll be looking into it now.

    I do have one more thing to ask; Is your server running php4 or php5? I have been developing diggZ-Et in a php5 environment and forgot some users may use php4 even though I don't think I used any php5 specific code.

    Thanks again for looking into this!
    I also use PHP version 5 on my server.

    Ok I discovered the problem and I was able to finally recreate the behavior. The auto summary had two slight bugs in it.

    Firstly, when using images it wasn't removing the block code correctly. Secondly, any text that was picked up as separate lines would break the buttons.

    These bugs have been fixed and will be released in the next release, 1.2.0 in a day or so.
