The free version here on the repository is intended to be a zero-configuration role that fits between Administrator and Editor. It’s primarily intended for clients with default settings that work for the majority of client use cases. I personally use the free version on at least 50% of my client projects.

A lot of time has gone into development of this plugin even though it appears relatively simple in its function. We use the paid version as a way to fund ongoing development. The free version should be a useful role between Administrator and Editor, but inevitably it can’t be used for every scenario.

As many client situations require customization, the pro version is great, but there are also free alternatives that you can use to accomplish similar goals. Free alternatives could be a mix of these plugins:

    http://wordpress.org/plugins/user-role-editor/
    http://wordpress.org/plugins/adminimize/
    http://wordpress.org/plugins/admin-menu-editor/

You could use the Role Editor plugin to modify Administrator, or use the Webmaster/Admin role as a starting point to edit if it’s closer to what you’re looking for.

I think our Pro version particularly shines when it comes to 3rd party integration and simplicity, but it’s by no means the only option available.

I hope that helps, please reply/reopen if you have any further questions

    Thanks,
    Nathan

Thank you much for the prompt reply. I’ve looked at & tested some of the other similar plugins that provide more capabilities in their base/free versions. I’ve found what I was looking for.
    Observations.
It seems your PRO version is limited in scope in comparison to the other free version role admin plugins.

It’s difficult to commit to pay in advance for what amounts to a black box aka a “pro” version that appears limited in capabilities insofar as the scope of the third party integration that you mention.

I suggest you add third party capability to the free version and also expand your pro version scope to include more 3rd party plugin integrations … in order to strengthen the marketing bridge from the former to the latter.
    Just my opinion. Thks again.
