I want to add, that this started to happen after the 1.6 update. Also, i installed 1.5 version and now it does the same.
The main problem is that the plugin is creating a permalink after the real url in the home page only.
for example: the main url is domain.com. Then in the snippet preview if i want to add a personalized “title” to the main page, for example “this is the title of domain.com”, the snippet will change the url like this:
domain.com/this-is-the-title-of-domain.com/
so.. i think thats a bug. I dont want that url to appear in my homepage url in google´s results. Is this happening only in the preview snippet or google is going to use that url instead of the real one?
It should change the site title only, but not the url of the home page.
Can someone answer me if it´s just me or is there something i am missing here?
I have the same issue 🙁 I have a static homepage, my permalink should be domain.com/home, but after changing the title, it also changes the permalink
sorry, I meant to say, the snippet preview should be
domain.com/
but after entering the title, the snippet changes to
domain.com/whatever-title-entered
I found that it is only doing this for the homepage, not any others
I want to chime in that I’m having the exact same problem too. It seems to be taking the SEO Title field and appending it to the end.

Please Author.. Do something fast, i have just realized that the bad permalink is sent inside the sitemap_index.xml to google.
Thanks!
I’ve had to deactivate this plugin because the issue is so pervasive. Once I deactivated it, the permalink problems seem to be resolved.
I am using a Kriesi theme with Portfolio pages. All of the portfolio pages that I’ve made changes to within the last few days have had the permalinks changed to the names of random blog post titles. In addition, preview text is stripped from the page each time I open the page for editing, which affects top level pages. Now I have to check every page of the website and change the permalink manually. This bug is VERY bad! Google has already indexed these new URLS, which is terrible. Please fix this soon or a 1 star rating will be coming your way and I will be switching to a different plugin.
I also deactivated the plugin for now, which is a bummer. when it works, it is a real good plugin, but bugs like that need to be addressed ASAp
Hi. I got a similar problem after updating the plugin. The meta tags in the header are all correct, but when I try to share via facebook and google+ both of them seem to not recognize them. The result is that every post I try to share will show the homepage title and the homepage link as description, even if they link to the correct post address.
This happens only with the new posts (after update), while the old posts are displaying all the data correctly.
I’m trying to find a solution and I’ll share if I find one.

Hello again. I have just updated the plugin to 1.6.1 version. The author says it solves this problem apparently. But after the update i am still having the same issue.
Please author, can you answer this post so we can try to fix the issue altogether? Maybe if you get involved with us, you could try to understand what is happening.
Thank you
I’m having this exact same issue and I also have a static home page. Whenever I change the SEO title in the Yoast WordPress SEO settings.. the snippet changes my website from:
http://mywebsite.com/
to
http://mywebsite.com/whatever-seo-title-I-entered/
If this is only an error with the snippet preview then I’m not concerned. But if it shows up in the search engines, then this is bad news. Hopefully it’s just a bug!
This all happened after the 1.6.1 plugin update. Hopefully you guys can find a solution! 😀
I’ve contacted Yoast support about this. Will let everyone know if I find a solution as well!
