    Hi,
I am trying to insert some photos within my text, captions and all. I’m having a hard time figuring out how to control the placement so that I get them exactly where I want. It’s not as easy and dragging. I’ve assigned them left or right designations, but the whole thing seems to be wonky in terms of precisely placing the image where I want it in relation to the text. And captions can be wonky too, with extra space above them, or glomming themselves into text when deleting photo. Is there something I’m missing? (my site is not yet live.)
    Thanks!

Hi there, formatting images within posts and pages can indeed be tricky, but it’s not a theme-specific issue. 🙂

You can use the right-align and left-align buttons in the Visual Editor to move images to the right or left of your text. This guide from WordPress.com shows how:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/image-alignment/

If you need to place your image more precisely – say you need more or less space between the image an your text – you can make those adjustments by using some CSS. Margin and padding are the two things that are most helpful for image placement:

    https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/CSS/margin
    https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/CSS/padding

To help you more I’d need to see an example of what sort of trouble you’re having. If your site isn’t live yet, you could upload a screenshot with a service like Imgur or Snaggy.

Ok, thank you. This is helpful. I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing something.

Having similar issues with word wrap and image placement since WP updated me to 4.0 version. I’m not new to this, have been doing my blog for 4 years with no problems at all.

When creating my post in my Dashboard, everything looks fine… image is at the left of my opening paragraph, just as it should be. BUT, when I hit ‘preview’, the image moves up above the posting between the title and the first paragraph. What am I missing?

**** will post this on my blog at: http://www.maurerconsultinggroup.com/blog

The ‘update’ to 4.0 has some steps back when it comes to images. What was simple now appears to require coding to get what we had in the past. WP has been sold to all of us as not requiring us to be able to do code. This is an unnecessary addition of time not only to create our ‘easy’ post, but to go back and learn coding as well.

Hi there, you’ve found yourself in the Pictorico theme forum, but it looks like you’re not using Pictorico, and the issue you’re referring to doesn’t sound theme-specific. You could try posting in the general Troubleshooting forum to ask for help, where more folks will see it, especially since this thread is several months old and marked as resolved. Good luck!
