Pay someone to un-hack your blog. then upgrade. or pay the same person to upgrade your blog after its been un-hacked.
It can be done, i’ve done hundreds.

Why doesn’t that work for you? It does work for most of the WP users.
As for “unhacking” – you will need to give full access to your site/blog to whoever is going to do it.
The problem I’m having is I guess uploading the program. I’ve done that just fine, but my FTP program won’t allow me to log into my site. I’m assuming this is another problem the hacker placed on my shoulders.
I do have access to my cpanel and all files in the blog. It looks like all files are still intact, is there anything I can do there as far as backing up files or gaining access to my blog entries?

No content is in files, everything is in the database.
I think it is really the time for you to get some pro help.
In that case, I think I’ll see what hostgator’s support team can do for me. There’s just no logic for me to allow anyone that kind of access to my blog. I’m sure anyone would understand that.

No, nobody can understand that. I have had access to all my clients’ website and to the sites of countless number of novice WP users who came here asking for help. Whenever it was impossible to guide them to do some complicated stuff, they sent me their access info by email and I solved their problem. Same for whoo and many well-known helpers around here.
And in the more than 4 years spent on these forums I have never heard of one single case when a volunteer helper offered help and abused anybody’s website.
But it is your choice.

hostgator may be willing to get you a mysql backup, but thats prolly where their support will end.

generally, when i do the work, i require ftp access, and cpanel access and thats about it. (the logins and passwords are the same on hosts that use cpanel)
its rare that I need access to the admin area of the blog.
you must also have money; i dont work for free, and properly ‘fixing’ an exploited blog is work.
I think we were lost in translation.
I do NOT have access to the blog in terms of administration. That account, as well as a few random subscribers were deleted. The blog was restored long ago, I just don’t know what could have been left on the blog by the hacker, as nothing is standing out in the cpanel.
Hence, why I simply wanted to hack the NEW admin user/pass to save the blog entries… so I could delete the existing blog and re-install a new one… then import my old blog entries.
FTP and Cpanel access wouldn’t be necessary for that. The hacker hacked my admin password, nothing else. If you want to do business recovering admin access for me, we can talk.
