• Hey all:

I have images that I already uploaded before switching to WordPress 2.6 that I want to put into galleries and insert into posts. It looks like half the posts took the transition well and are shown as being attached, but a lot aren’t. How can I take an image that is already uploaded into my media library and simply put that in a gallery which I can then stick into a post?

This is a two-parter, actually. How do you remove images from a post gallery without deleting that image from the media library? And how do you add images to a post gallery without having to re-upload it?

How do you get answers to questions, seems newbies have no priority

If you uploaded images using the regular uploader on older version, they should have transitioned normally onto the new platform. If you FTP’d the image then obviously it wouldn’t show up as it wasn’t logged on the database as a new attachment.

To avoid re-uploading an image that has already uploaded, that you want to insert into a post, just click on Add media, select the media library tab, and then search for the image you want to use and insert it.
