• Hello,

I recently designed a theme to match my main website. It is my first real attempt at creating an offical theme. Its purpose is to offer design services and was created for clean, easy reading while maintaining a nice design.

As stated, I mainly wanted it to match my own site but would like some feedback on the functionality, look and overall general aspects of a solid blog.

You can find the blog at http://www.webconsiderations.com/blog.

    Thanks much!

  • I like everything about it but the little yellow bars for the <li> in the sidebar. Maybe just me. :>)
Very clean and easy to read and navigate.

    Hi,

Thank you for your vote of confidence and your feedback. I’ll definitely take the yellow bars into consideration. 🙂

    Take care

i like it, nice colours headings are good size, font is nice an clear, but i agree with samboll, i don’t like the yellow bars; the colour doesn’t seem to go with the rest of the theme and i don’t see what their purpose is in the theme.

    overall pretty nice

If you want to align your list to the right, why not use list-style-none, and use a background graphic aligned to the right? That way, if you have to have those little yellow bars, they’d be aligned better and would look better. I’m with the others on the color though – I think a light blue would look much better.

Thanks everyone, I definitely appreciate the good feedback.

Believe it or not, the list-style is set to none, that is actually a 6px border left; when hovering, it just changes the border color.

I’m definitely going to come up with something else since it seems, at least so far, that the “yellow bars” wasn’t such a good idea. I think the light blue is a better idea but I may just get rid of them all together.

    Thanks.

why are there bars of any color? I keep seeing that in a lot of theme releases these days. It adds nothing to the usability of your sidebar, and really just looks like some sort of pixellated browser issue. I think somewhere, sometime, someone released a theme with bars where they expected icons to be inserted. Then the next “designer” said, “cool. bars.” Mostly just annoying.

    “Bars” are gone. 🙂

I can certainly see now they were not appealing but for some reason I felt something should be there. I know I stated it was my intention to keep this theme clean but the links on the left just like they needed something.

It’s been a great experience building my first theme from scratch and will start on another soon.

(Still would like more feedback is someone feels so inclined).

    Thanks.
