Is there a way to upgrade from a running version of FreshPost to Flutter (http://freshout.us/goodies/fresh-post-for-wordpress-wordpress-cms/)?

I've tried just switching plug-ins but Flutter doesn't recognize the things I've changed with FP. Running them simultaneously also doesn't work as they conflict with each other.

No. Even though Flutter is the next generation of Freshpost, and it has the same developer, the two plugins are incompatible. You would have to manually recreate everything into Flutter.

There also is no way, currently, to get posts in a specific category to start showing up as a Flutter post in that category.

Currently, Flutter is only a plugin to be used on fresh-install websites, or a website that is adding a new feature that could benefit from the Flutter write panels. You can't convert a site to Flutter though with a lot of manual labor and database work...

I had a bad time with Flutter, myself. Now I read jcow warning to only use it on a fresh-install. Knowing that earlier might have saved a lot of headache. I will avoid this plugin until the developers get it more stable.

The "Write Panel" feature of Flutter can easier be done now with Custom Fields Template plugin, which has been upgraded a lot recently. It's more simple, and it works adding it to an existing WP install.

They tried to do too much in Flutter. It is overly complicated, and Flutter rolls two plugins into one, which is too bad.

The latest version that you can download from their site (2.26 i think) is better, but it is still a really messy plugin unfortunately. If I had a little more php prowess, a basic write panel plug would be awesome.

I will check out the custom fields template plugin, maybe i can switch to that. thanks.
