Hm, I have used that guide countless times.

You mention that you need a redirect now, why? Did you move the files as directed? Did you change the URLs in Settings as directed?

    Thanks for your answer.
I redirected because I didn’t get the move to work. I moved the site back to /newsite to get it to work againg, and made a redirect from the root site to the subfolder, so visitors will see the new site.

I changed the URLs in Settings excatly as described, and when I press ‘Save’, I get an error, which I think it should because it then redirects me to the root site as the settings changed.
I then moved all the files and folders from /newsite to /, and that’s where the trouble begins. I get a blank screen when visiting /wp-login.php, and also when visiting the root site.

I will look into i again today, but I really can’t see that I should be doing anything wrong.

Ok, yes please try the guide again.

If you see the blank screen again after moving all the files, try manually resetting your plugins. If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via FTP or SFTP, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force the default theme to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).
