  • I recently used html in my google calendar description to hyperlink some text. In the google view, the text displays fine, but on the calendar on my website it shows the code while autolinking the ugly link I wanted to hide.

So html support would be awesome.

It would also be super helpful if the widget had some options for displaying data. The easiest would be if it just showed the title, date, & time of an event. Currently the calendar is way too small in widget form to be usable but the list is way too long because of all of the information it displays. Html support would also be helpful here.

Different calendar viewing options in the full page would be helpful as well. Such as Week View, or 3 month view, or yearly view. Or at the very least have the navigation arrows say the upcoming and previous month’s names instead of the tiny arrows.

It would also be very helpful if you could choose a fill color for the days which have events. The bolded day is not them most obvious when you’re glancing at the calendar.

I would like the have a possibility to either save feed settings or simply duplicate GCAL Feeds.

As I have many similar feeds to add, it’s a lot of unnecessary work to do all the feed settings and display options – they are the same for every feed.

I would like to split/manipulate strings for title, location and description to show them a bit different from the original text.

    Shortcode-Button/Generator in WYSIWYG-Editor

    Retrieve Events From/Until:
Option for Previous/Next 30 days would be great!

Display max 20 words in a widget, but display full text in page list.
Why is the (rather cool) Event Builder per feed, and not per widget selectable?
Retrieve the entire event, and have some Event Builders to choose from in every widget/page list.

    Bump on @kreativhuhn’s from/until suggestion.

In addition. I’d love to be able to use parameters in the shortcode to limit number of events or date ranges. That way I could define my feed once and use it in X many different ways.

Currently, if I want to show all events from my Google Calendar in an Ajax Grid and then also show events from that same Google Calendar in a list view, I have to create 2 separate feeds for that (unless I missed a better way to do that).

Lastly, I’d love to see some enhanced responsive views. This is the reason I use both a grid and list view as described above. Grid view is almost never a viable option on handheld devices, so those users get a list view instead.

One thing I’d really like to be able to do would be to insert tags in my events and only display ones that match. Since GCal doesn’t support it natively (afaik?) I was thinking along the lines of inserting #tag into the event description and have GCE extract them. My use case is that the calendar will contain, for example, club meetings and club events (which themselves could be categorised) and I want to have pages that allow me to pick which get shown. Creating multiple calendars is an option but tags would be more flexible (eg one event with multiple tags) and I want to have several people edit the calendar, so having a dozen calendars gets messy.

I could probably do a reasonable job of adding this myself (or at least contributing) if there’s general interest, although I’d wait for the next stable release first. Unless there’s a better way to do it?

Some things you should be able to do already.

With the new 2.0 plugin architecture, since it’s now using custom post types, you can use a plugin such as “Duplicate Post” to quickly “clone” (copy) GCal feeds.

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/duplicate-post/

With the “search query” feed setting, you could use it to search for tags or text in your events to display only those. It’s not a shortcode attribute yet though.
