I’m trying to get Norton safe site verification for my WordPress.org site. I have an Attracto WP custom theme. I am new at this, and up in age, so not too familiar with computer language.

Norton offers two options. I can add a meta tag to my Homepage, or download an HTML, and upload that to my “Root Folder”. I have search to the point of almost tearing what little hair I have left from my head, for information on how to access my root folder, or even how to add it to my home page.

If anybody has any information as to the whereabouts of these locations, how to access them, or can direct me to information on how to preform these tasks, I will greatly appreciate it. – Ahanu

  • 1. You will need an FTP Client such as FileZilla, and to have gathered the necessary FTP credentials from your web host to upload a file to root – and to know which folder is root – which is the same folder as wp-config.php for the site in question.

    2. To include the meta tag in your theme’s header.php file (typically where the <head>add meta tag properly here</head> is found in theme’s), you can use the theme editor, but I strongly encourage you to have a backup first (refer to 1). If you make an error, you may lose access to the front end and will need the FTP Client to repair that anyway.

Thanks for taking the time to help, But I accidentally found the word </head> in the editor and placed the Meta Tag above that…It worked. I got feedback from Norton that it has been verified.

Great! Please then mark this post as resolved.
