• I have successfully created a website for the company I work for using wordpress and hosting at 1and using a custom theme. I am NOW creating a website for my band and I am having trouble. I registered my domain name using wordpress because I thought it would be simpler however I came to find out that I cannot use custom themes or edit the way I want because the site is technically hosted with WordPress. I read up and found that I need to host elsewhere. I asked my boss and he said I could just use 1and1 as the host for my Bands website. I have changed the name servers on the WordPress but I am lost on what to do next. I want to be able to install a custom theme and use plug ins. What is the next step that I need to do in order to complete?

  • Which are the nameserver you are using?

You do need to add the domain in the 1&1 control panel as an external domain then. You also need to install WordPress by using our Click&Build or by doing it yourself and move to content over from WordPress.com.

Okay I was able to use the click and build portion of 1and1 but now when I go to the domain I purchased, it still goes to the old blog site I built with WP. BLOG made: http://www.nineshrines.com with the click and build it only corresponds with http://nineshrines.apps-1and1.com/

I see the the change domain option on 1and1 however it will not let me select nineshrines as an option. I guess since it is a external domain name.

Ultimately all I want to do for now is have that picture as my background and that is it until we hire a real web designer. With the blog site it adds the blog div and the footer covers the background image. I basically just want a static image but that does not seem possible on the blog WP.

http://www.nineshrines.com/ displays http://www.eastcoasttileinc.com/ so that seems to look good.

To be able to use nineshrines.com you need to register the domain in the control panel as an external domain.

I do not think that is good. The eastcoasttile site should have absolutely nothing to with nineshrines. Eastcoasttile is the company I work for.
