I’m having problems with my permalinks at tgmeds.org.uk in that none of them work. I’m trying to move back to the default settings for them, and then choosing a page from the archives link to test it, but none of them work but just give me a ‘500’ error. How can I get the permalinks working properly again please?

And I have exactly the same problem on my other site A taste of linux.

And its also happening with the “Continue reading” links on both sites!

  • Hello boudiccas, sounds like it may be a plugin conflict? Have you tried this –

    1. Deactivate all your plugins
    2. Reset your permalinks settings under Settings->Permalinks and see if they are working
    3. Reactivate your plugins one by one.

Thanks for this obi, I’ve tried as you suggested and I still get “Error code 500” but thats only with ‘qupzilla’. With chromium and google-chrome, I just get a blank page! And this is with flushing all caches, deactivating all plugins and then trying permalinks.

However, to get to my archives page, it is <hp://www.sharons.org.uk/?page_id=1081> whereas all permalinks are like <hp://www.sharons.org.uk/?p=1528> but I can’t see how to get the first permalink reference there.

But on the ‘network admin’ site, both of my sites are part of a multi-site setup, I have this message appear on the plugin page after they are network activated, “Disk Enchanced mode can’t work with “Default” permalinks structure”. But I don’t have a clue what its about, or what a ‘disk enchanced mode’ means!

Just tried =all= permalink permutations, but with all plugins activated, and every single one is broken and does not work.

But I did google “Disk Enchanced mode” and it relates to the w3-cache that I use, which will not work with the default permalinks, so am now using ‘post name’, not that they work anyway!

sorted! It was all caused by the ‘nrelate’ plugin not being multi-site compatible, yet being multi-site enabled! Once I removed the multi-site enabling, and just have it single-site enabled, all the permalinks worked nicely.
