Hey,
Thanks for the notification; interesting. A few questions come to mind:
1) Do comments get imported back to WordPress? In other words, do you see the comment listing at http://fantasyteamadvice.com/wp-admin/edit-comments.php ?
2) If the answer to the above was “no”, make sure you haven’t disabled automated comment syncing at http://fantasyteamadvice.com/wp-admin/edit-comments.php?page=disqus#adv
3) If it still does not help, could you provide me with the Debug Information from the bottom of this page: http://fantasyteamadvice.com/wp-admin/edit-comments.php?page=disqus#adv (exclude the disqus_api_key and disqus_user_api_key values).
Hope this helps,
-Janne
I enabled comment syncing after posting this comment here.. and it appears to be working. If there are any other issues, I’ll let you know, thanks for the response
Hi Janne,
I’m also having trouble, as it seems like the plugin isn’t notifying authors of new comments to their posts..
I made sure that comments get imported back to WordPress, and that automated comment syncing is enabled..
What else can be checked?
Thanks!
Hey Caparico!
I run the plugin also myself on multiple of my sites; I just double-checked and for me the plugin works with WordPress 4.1 and Disqus 2.84 even though the plugin doesn’t officially claim support for these versions. I will update the version support info today.
Regarding your problem: Are you in general able to receive email that is machine-sent from the server you’re running your site on? Like for example, if you fire up a simple PHP script using PHP’s mail
function, will you receive those messages?
Email getting caught in users’ spam folders (or not getting delivered at all) might also be due to missing or incorrectly configured SPF and/or DKIM records in your domain’s DNS management. If you’re not familiar with SPF and/or DKIM, here’s basic info:
SPF: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sender_Policy_Framework
DKIM: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DomainKeys_Identified_Mail
Does this help?
Thanks for your reply, Janne!
I’ll investigate further, plus, I’ll have to update our WordPress version and see if I can get this resolved.
Cheers!
Hey Caparico!
Did you get the issue resolved?
Hi Janne,
Sorry, but I was not able to have notifications on new comments sent to our authors.
I now simply have them subscribe and get email updates from their blog posts using the built-in Disqus Subscribe button.
