Express Checkout as a "normal" payment method

    Hi,

    i’m testing your awesome plugin. One thing i realized:

    I have custom checkout fields that are required. The express checkout ignores them.

    Therefore it would be great for any customized checkout if your plugin’s express checkout could also work as a normal payment method. It would then appear in the list of payment methods at the bottom of the checkout page, take into consideration custom fields and probably not have a review page after coming back to woocommerce.

    Woocommerce is great because of its flexibility to customize almost everything and a custom check out is important for many developers. So i hope you can make your plugin accomodate the above?!

    Hi Tobias,

    Thanks for the feedback. I do plan on adding options for EC so you can choose where/how to display it within checkout. Some people like to skip all the forms, other prefer the forms so they can do the sort of thing you’re trying to do.

    I would argue that skipping the forms up-front and then building any custom fields you need into the review page would be a better way to handle Express Checkout. That way you can still auto-populate the majority of the order info using the details that PayPal returns so the user doesn’t have to type it all, and you still get the “express” feel to checkout, which can increase conversion rates. However, I understand that’s not always an option for people as it requires more development skill to actually extend the solution to suit your needs, and I definitely plan on getting these options included in a future release. It may be a couple of months before it’s done, though, unfortunately.

    I’ve officially closed my list of issues for 1.1.5, and I’m hoping to get that all wrapped up and released within the next couple of weeks. Then I’ve got a big list for 1.2 and this will definitely be included there.
