• I have kept my WP versions up to date and suddenly I can not update to 3.9.2

Is there a file I can edit so update process gives me more info about what is happening?

This message is utterly useless: “automated WordPress update has failed to complete”

  • I usually get this error when I don’t have enough disk space.

Try to do the update yourself using the manual “one-click” method. You should get a somewhat more verbose description of the process.

    Did that too. Nothing useful.
I do not mind editing php files involved to get more useful feedback, but I need precise instructions.

What exactly was “Nothing useful”? Did the upgrade complete? Or what did it tell you on the screen?

You can use a FTP Client such as FileZilla to upload a fresh copy of WordPress 3.9.2 of which you only upload everything except the wp-content folder.

respectyoda, sure I can but this is not a solution for this particular problem.
I need to figure out, what is wrong and why is this happening so I can avoid it later.

Can anyone with programming background help me out here?
Please tell me what files to edit and what code I must add to find out why I can not update.

    Thank you.
