number of side bars

    on one wordpress site I have sidebar 1 and 2 on my widget page, and on another site I have 3 sidebars. how is this set?

    In Admin go to Design > Widgets. On left, you will see Available Widgets and other right column, Current Widgets which has dropdown for you to choose which sidebar you want to add a widget to.

    Thank you, but my question is how do you set the number of side bars? is it theme specific?

    You don’t “set” it. It is defined by the theme author in the design/layout.
