  • Hello

I have multi-site subdomain set-up. For my project I would like to Add subdomains, but in to different folders undur root folder.
Lets just say I would like to have:

    john.domain.com and eric.domain.com
    In /public.html/personnel/

    and

    office.domain.com and reception.domain.com
    In /public.html/location/

Is there anyway to do that?

    Any Help is Greatly appreciated
    Thanks

Why do they need to be in separate folders?

You CAN do this, but it’ll require domain mapping.

    Hi
    Thanks for reply.
Basically I was going to use simple password for wordpress and one of the folder would be and the other one would be open to anyone.
The protected would have some sensitive information that only certain personal could see.
And as well as the search engines wouldn’t be able to search for posts or pictures.
    Thanks

I had to think about this a bit…

So the problems are that mapping a domain to a subfolder are … awkward. The ‘best’ work around (and this is subjective) would be to install WordPress twice:

    public.domain.com and private.domain.com

    Then, using subFOLDERs have

    public.domain.com/john
    public.domain.com/eric
    private.domain.com/office
    private.domain.com/reception

And THEN you would use domain mapping to map public.domain.com/john to john.domain.com and so on.
