I am putting together a site for a charity organization that wants to use e-greeting cards as a fundraiser. So before using this plugin I am hoping someone can answer these questions:

1 – Does the plugin support charging users for sending greetings? I was hoping to have two kinds of charges – a per/greeting fee, and an alternative unlimited use/membership fee. If the plug in doesn’t already support this then i am thinking my option will be to use a membership plugin also and just have the second option.

2 – does the plugin include a security feature to block users from copying the greeting card image? The image we’ll be using is copyrighted and was specially created for the charity by a well-known artist.

3 – the description says that the plugin supports fetching of the card. I assume that this refers to the kind of process that americangreetings and yahoo and others use, where the recipient of the greeting gets a link and the link connects them to the card in their browser.

Sorry if these questions are a bit newbie-ish.

  • 1 – no it doesn’t (unless the undocumented bwcards feature offers that). Wp-greet uses templates, allowing you to put in custom html, php and scripts, so I’m pretty sure you can customize it to your needs.

2 – no, you need to use another plugin or custom coding. Note that you don’t have to use nextgen gallery or the media library. You can also send customers to the card form using url parameters, so you could use a button, a script, or whatever you like. Wp-greet does support user roles.

3 – yes, that is exactly what the fetch online option does. You can try it with my travel ecard service, which allows people to upload their own holiday image and send it as an ecard. (it’s for dutchies, so keep the translator nearby).

    1. yes, there is a premium extension for charging a fee for sending greetings. If you are interested please contact me at support at tuxlog.de

    2. yes, this is possible in various ways depending on the way your are sending the greeting cards. E.g. if you send images inline with the email you can show the images with a watermark and in a different resolution and only send the original together with the mail or you can edit the templates to block the right mouse click menu,…

    3. yes, that’s correct and you can also send a confirmation mail before the card is sent to make sure the sender is the owner of the email address

For further questions do not hesitate to send me an email.
