Static front page. Blog in subdirectory. Path naming problems.
-
Hi,
I have installed WordPress, and am using it to power my whole site. I have a static front page (e.g. http://myname.com/), my blog in a subdirectory (e.g. http://myname.com/blog), and I want to have some static pages in subdirectories (e.g. http://myname.com/topic/).I built the pages and placed them in an appropriate hierarchy, and then went to Settings->Reading and in the “Front page displays” section selected “A static page.” For “Front page” I selected my static front page, and for posts page I selected my blog page.
I am now able to navigate fine, the only problem is with the URL paths for the sub-directories. For a sub-page “topic” the path is “http://www.myname.com/my-name/topic/” whereas I want it to be “http://www.myname.com/topic/”
Is there a way to fix this? As far as I can tell this is happening because WordPress is still treating the “My Name” page as a sub-page, when in fact it is meant to be at the top of the hierarchy.
Thanks,
GarthMy apologies if this has been covered. I found a few posts that seemed related, but not quite applicable to my situation.
