• A few days ago I tried to set up a website using Word Press. My site would not respond to my logon attempts. I later determined that the cause of the problem was that the site had no record of my username, password, or e-mail.

I understand from reading an article on resetting passwords, to which I had been referred through this website, that the hosting account can delete all contents of the site and allow reinstallation of the Word Press software. Since I have done no work on my website as yet, I wish to do this but I do not know how. I do know that it is done by means of the phpMyAdmin function of the hosting provider’s website. Could someone please help me?

In installing Word Press on my domain, I used the Host Gator auto install feature. I believe that I probably did it incorrectly. In any event, I am unable to access the website and have no other option to solve the problem so please do not try to come up with one.

    Howdy gechmas,

Sorry to hear you’re having trouble getting up and running with WordPress. I am unfamiliar with with Host Gator’s auto install feature, but I am curious if you have contacted their tech support to see if they can assist you – it could be that it’s not working properly or perhaps the interface/instructions are unclear. In either case, I would think that they would be receptive to your feedback and hopefully eager to help.

If they’re not able to help, report back here – perhaps myself or someone else can help you dig deeper in to getting your website up and running.

I accidently cancelled my hosting (Go Daddy) so I had to pay extra to restore it I have 5 websites with them, now they tell me I have to go to wordpress to rearrange the files cause if I try to go to awebsite they all go to plantgrowingtips.com, I have carsellingadvice.com, photographyhotips.com, getyourspouseback.com and howtobuyacarandnotoverpay.com but no matter which one you click on they all go to plantgrowingtips.com

If you used HostGator’s (HG) auto install (QuickInstall), then you should have received an email with the log in credentials. Additionally, upon completion of the install, the completion screen also has your log in credentials presented.

If this install was to the root of your hosting account, that is to say, that this is the primary domain for the account, then it could be a matter of your hosting account/domain not have being fully propagated.

I later determined that the cause of the problem was that the site had no record of my username, password, or e-mail.

Where are you attempting this login? Is it at:

    http://www.your_domain_name.com/wp-admin ?

@jerrymuma – as per forum rules, please start your own thread 🙂
