Hi who is your provider? Godaddy?
Hostgator should have no problems with email. Did you check the spam folder? I can try to signup myself, you share your blog address.
My blog is: http://selfhelpsanctum.com/ (signup from blue box at right of screen).
I just tried again, ie:
signed up with test email
browsers displays confirmation web page
signed into blog as admin
test email shown in newsletter subscribers (NOT CONFIRMED)
sent test emails from Diagnostic page
checked email – 4 test emails received (3 from blog, 1 from WordPress), sign-up confirmation e-mail not received
checked admin email – nothing received
Many thanks for your help
Did you change the email template or like that?
I just changed the words to be used for the email. Nothing technical.
I removed the plug-in and re-installed it. Then went through and re-configured everything back to defaults as it still remembered my settings even after being removed. Again tried to register an e-mail, nothing sent. Again sent the test emails, received all 4 almost instantly. I set up the log file and checked it, it said: “17-08-2014 10:33:19 – INFO – 28.4 MB – New email address”
Hi, empty the confirmation email body and subject and write in them something like “test subject”, “test body”.
Try a subscription: if the email is delivered your provider has a filter on your outgoing email (others have the same problem).

Thanks, it sends the email now. Do you know what is triggering the filter or should I contact hostgator?
You should contact hostgator, you can report the original email text for reference. If possible let me know, I’ll add it to the plugin documentation.
Thank you, Stefano.
Here is reply from hostgator: “Our system scans for anything that is overtly spamlike, and marks it so that we can ensure that little to no spam comes through our system. When sending an email through a plugin in wordpress, or any other script, it is strongly suggested to use smtp instead of sendmail, as this will allow the script to send through the mail servers, instead of being sent directly from the server itself, which can cause issues later down the road.”
The SMTP can be configured on Newsletter main configuration. Just ask Hostgator the parameters to connect to the SMTP (if they provided a mailbox with your domain you should already have those values).
